Boasting is essentially that in which we place our confidence. In Romans Paul uses it to mean that in which one relies upon for final justification. 37 times Paul uses boasting in NT. He is drawing from Jeremiah 9:23-24 and it is a central theme in his writings conveying an essential axiomatic reality of authentic faith. For Paul, that in which one boasts is an acid test in determining the object of ones hope in relation to eternal judgment.
