The Calling and Mission God has given Living Word Christian Fellowship

February 15th, 2009 · No Comments

The calling and mission God has given Living Words Christian Fellowship. Dr. Hartmann describes the origins of living Word Christian Fellowship. Dr. Hartmann describes the burnout he personally experienced as a result of years in ministry and church work. After his PhD from Cambridge he began a Bible study. The emphasis of the Bible studies focused on going back to basics. Acts 2:42 outlines the significant elements of emphasis that God desires for Living Word Christian Fellowship- apostles doctrine, Fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer. Eventually what emerged was a church. Certain foundational characteristics have come to light as the guiding motivations of the fellowship. Namely, the fellowship would be ruled with divine wisdom rather than selfish ambition. It would be a remnant people rooted in sincerity and truth. It would be a group of people assembled together to become a holy habitation filled with God’s glory. Isaiah 37: 30-32 describes an interior work that eventually manifests itself externally. As a work out grew John Hartmann’s house and moved into a building the Lord encouraged him to open his heart wide to allow the people of God access, and encouraged John that His yoke was easy in his burden was light. Matthew 9:35-38 describes Jesus looking upon people who were fainting and scattered because they were like sheep without a shepherd. Dr. Hartmann believes that this first passage describes many of the people of God whom He has prepared to receive teaching and ministry at Living Word Christian Fellowship. Acts 15 describes the church in Antioch which ultimately became a sending base to the Gentile nations. He believes that the Church of Antioch exhibits characteristics of a training and sending base, similar to what God wants to develop. Further characteristics and vision are outlined in this inspiring message.
