Some of the unique characteristics of the first group of non-Jewish believers is illustrated in a passage in Acts 11:27-30. This church was located in Antioch. The believers in the city of Antioch were the first people to be called Christians. The fact of their non-Jewish ethnicity marks a turning point and critical development in the progression of a universal transnational, trans-ethnic Church headed by Jesus.
Dr. Hartmann describes the historical fact of the famine predicted by the prophets from Jerusalem. The proof of their authenticity is made evident by their excellent character. The preeminent characteristic demonstrating authenticity of union with Christ is genuine love. Dr. Hartmann outlines useful insights related to giving.
