Christ and the Church in the Eternal Purpose of God

September 8th, 2010 · No Comments

In this study Dr. Hartmann explores the relationship between the gifts of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12-14) and the Church’s calling in the eternal purposes of God as laid out by the apostle Paul in Ephesians 3. Paul was given a stewardship to preach the “revelation of the mystery” concerning Christ and the Church, which had been hidden in God for ages, but which is now being revealed through His holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit. The apostle has been commissioned to bring to light what is the administration of the mystery, so that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and authorities in the heavenlies, in accordance with the eternal purpose He purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord, through Whom the church has been given boldness and confident access to the throne of grace through faith in Him. This drives Paul to his knees, to pray for the fulfillment of all that God has purposed for His people, the God Who is able to do (what He has said concerning the Church) exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, and to Whom belongs the glory in the Church and Christ Jesus to all generations, forever.
