Acts 1:4-8 records a set of promises Jesus spoke regarding the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to be an effective witness. A witness does not need to be a clever, shrewd, marketing guru, although God can empower one to have words and wisdom that none of your enemies will be able to oppose or prove wrong. The Holy Spirit gives the required power to be an effective witness. Abiding in Christ and staying in communion with Him is required for an effective ongoing witness. A witness tells the truth, and is often characterized by boldness. Boldness is clear, direct speech that is understood by the hearer.
