The State of Grace

March 23rd, 2008 · No Comments

Dr. Hartmann explores Peter’s sermon in Acts 2, and highlights the essential elements of the authentic Gospel message.

The record shows Peter giving a clear proclamation of the historical events surrounding the life of Jesus. Peter goes on to directly implicate his audience in the murder of Jesus. The guilt of Peter’s audience is made absolutely clear, so much so, that the listeners of Peter’s proclamation ask Peter what they must do in light of their clear and convincing guilt. Peter then says it is necessary for each individual person to accept God’s terms of surrender to His loving sovereignty by acknowledging his or her guilt in light of the judgment of God.

Dr. Hartmann further explores the nature of authentic repentance by examining John 3:16-21 regarding coming to the light.

To further illuminate the nature of genuine repentance and the ongoing continuance of the blessings of covential relationship, Dr. Hartmann explores Moses prophetic warning to the people of Israel in Deuteronomy 29:17-21. This is an extremely relevant passage of scripture, especially in light of the current concepts and practices in much of Christendom, especially among American evangelicals. Authentic covential relationship and consequential blessing cannot be taken for granted. Covential blessing and relationship with God requires action and right heart attitude.

For a Witness

March 9th, 2008 · No Comments

Acts 1:4-8 records a set of promises Jesus spoke regarding the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to be an effective witness. A witness does not need to be a clever, shrewd, marketing guru, although God can empower one to have words and wisdom that none of your enemies will be able to oppose or prove wrong. The Holy Spirit gives the required power to be an effective witness. Abiding in Christ and staying in communion with Him is required for an effective ongoing witness. A witness tells the truth, and is often characterized by boldness. Boldness is clear, direct speech that is understood by the hearer.

Dr. Hartmann expounds on these and other themes in this powerful message.

Shifting from a wilderness wandering mindset to a possessing the land mentality

March 7th, 2008 · No Comments

When God leads His people through the wilderness He teaches them many things.  However, the wilderness is not the final stop. The goal of His training in the wilderness is to equip His people with the character to conquer & possess the Promised Land.

God’s people must make an attitudinal transition from dwelling in the desert to be able to possess the land. That transition requires consecration. Joshua 3 records God’s instructions to Israel, through Joshua, outlining what He wanted them to do as a significant transition was about to take place in the nation of Israel.

Dr. Hartman elaborates on many timeless truths from this pivotal passage that can be gleaned for our benefit as God leads us to inherit His promises.
